I have personally drawn up spech's for a few different design change ideas. So far I remain so busy in the field that my ideas have not gotten past this point. It will take a metal fabricating shop to produce some pro-types. It is nice to know another professional is on course with this issue.

I'm impressed Scott! That is thinking outside the box. Did you install the magnets inside the frame of the oven? Perhaps mounting them inside the door would protect them from the heat. Above certain temperatures magnetics begins to break down. I would like to know more in detail?

For the JJW8630 and others there is a serial number breakpoint requiring different part number hinges (series 10 and series 17 based on first two digits of the serial number). But after replacing both hinge and recepticle and not fixing the problem I am looking for a solution myself.

I have been having the same issues on my Jenn Aire that was purchased in 2005 and was rarely used over the last 6 years. The lower door is really bad and I removed the door readjusted and it lasted only a month. Now that the holidays are approaching we need the ovens working!!! Finally I came up with a solution, magnets. I placed (4) sets or 1/3" diameter Neodymium magnets stacked so that they were approximately 1/2" thick. I stuck them to the top of the oven frame and it works great!!

Dear friends, about a year ago my Kitchenaid washer was not draining and I had Rick come out to diagnose it. It had a defective lid switch which he replaced on the spot. I appreciated his candor and explanation of what he was doing and felt assured that I was not getting "ripped off".

I just wanted to thank Rick for his great service on my refrigerator on 10/6/11. I had an issue with the refrigerator where it would randomly raise and lower it's temperature anywhere from 5 to 15 degrees during the day. After checking a few items he told me the compressor would eventually give out. He realized that a new refrigerator would be in my future so he gave me a $20.00 discount on his service call.

I will continue to use Bishop and Sons whenever I need any future work.

Thanks,
James

Thanks for your response, Steven.
I have given much thought to the idea of making an adjustable part that could be added to the existing design. So far my conclusion is the same; The design of the existing hinge and receptacle are engineered to such minimal tolerances and mass in materials that only a complete re-design will do.

Thank you for putting out such good information. I can't tell you how much time I've spent trying to fix this myself. I thought it was just an adjustment issue and that I was just being dumb about how to go about fixing it. I thought surely there must be a tensioner or set screw somewhere that I was missing, but it sounds like this problem is endemic to their design. I will not waste any more time on it. I was trying to fix it for the next person who buys my house, but I guess it's going to slide.

You recently repaired both my clothes dryer and my dishwasher. I just wanted to thank you and let anyone, who reads these comments, know how I felt about my experience with your company. After observing how knowledgable and thorough you were, while repairing both machines, I felt completely satisfied with the finished result. I appreciated you talking with me, while repairing the machines and explaining how both machines worked, and what you were doing, every step of the way. I also appreciated the fact that you were the SINGLE company that answered their phone, on a holiday weekend, and were able to set up an appointment to repair my dryer, that same day! I feel the service fees for parts and labor where honest and not over priced.

I will and would recommend your services to anyone in need of appliance repair.

Thank you again,
Cindy
