So I went on this call….
My Dispatcher added notes to my route sheet from the customer; Washer fills, drains and spins but will not agitate or rinse. This description confused me a bit since I know Whirlpool top load machines like the back of my hand. In fact I usually diagnose them over the phone with just the information my customers give me.

I recently was called out to a Maytag Bravos washing machine that was having issues with the lid latch. I approached the machine in the way I always do; After running the machine for a moment I began an on board diagnosis.
The diagnosis results did not reveal anything but with further inspection I determined the latch was worn out and needed replaced.
After replacing the latch I ran the machine again. Now I was getting an F01 error. The indication for that is a bad board and the only recommended solution is to replace the board. This did not set well with me since I had already checked all the connections on the board during my first diagnosis and I used a dielectric before plugging them all back in.
I wasn’t looking forward to informing my customer the machine was going to need an additional part at the toon of $300.00, so I decided to open the machine again and inspect the board once more. I looked the board over and checked all the connections again. Then I closed it up. To my surprise the machine was now running perfectly.
The next day I got a call; The lid latch was not functioning properly. The customer reported they had to sit on the lid to get the latch to engage. It was my tech, Greg who discovered the cracked hinges on the lid.
To my surprise both rods were broken clear in two. We returned the following day and replaced the parts.
That was the ticket. Unfortunately the problem had ruined one lid latch assembly and would have ruined the new one and there’s no book to guide you through on this one.
